Champions Luxol won the first honour of the season in futsal as they won the Futsal Super Cup by beating Valletta after extra-time in a highly entertaining game at the Corradino Sports Pavilion.
This was the first appearance for the Citizens who left the pitch with their heads held up high after giving their opponents a worthy challenge.
Jovica Milijic put Valletta ahead and a brace by Denis Di Maio increased the lead further. Carl Azzopardi pulled one back for Luxol by the end of the first half.
Luxol showed greater determination after the break and went all out on the attack with Frane Despotovic acting as the flying keeper.
Dylan Musu added another two goals for Valletta but Luxol forced extra-time with a brace by Glenn Bonello and goals by William Barbosa and Carl Azzopardi.
In extra-time, Valletta also opted for the flying keeper with Dylan Musu. Luxol forged ahead through Frane Despotovic, adding another three goals through William Barbosa, Despotovic and Carl Azzopardi.
Luxol therefore emerged as winners with a 9-5 score. After the game, FMA President Mark Borg presented the cup to Luxol captain William Barbosa.
