Futsal: Five teams with maximum points after two matches

Luxol, Valletta, Msida St. Joseph, Mdina Knights and Hamrun Spartans registered convincing wins in the second round of matches from the Gatorade Futsal League was played at the Corradino Pavillion.

Champions Luxol were in a dominant mood after trouncing Sirens 13-0. Brazilian William Barbosa inspired Luxol to the three points after notching six goals. Florin Anton’s double, Mark Zammit, Carl Azzopardi, Zvezdan Vukovic, Glenn Bonello and Peter Pullicino were also on the St Andrews’ scoresheet.

Hamrun Spartans registered another emphatic win as they beat Marsaskala 15-1. Attacking trio Raphinha-Rodrigo-Frendo produced a stunning display as they enjoyed a goalscoring spree to push forward their team to victory.

Valletta produced another stunning performance as they overcome Mqabba 7-2 to ensure maximum points after two matches. Xavier Saliba hit the target twice while Dylan Musu, Melvin Borg, Cristian Cuadros Silva, Alex Ellul and Jovica Milijic put their names on the score sheet for the Citizens. Thomas Consoli and Ryan Mifsud scored Mqabba’s consolation goals.

Mdina Knights maintained their positive run as they saw off Qrendi 8-5 with striker Cleavon Portelli being their inspirational player as he notched a hat-trick.

On the other hand, Msida St Joseph resumed their winning trend after having no difficulty to overcome Gozo FC 5-1.

Lija Athletic returned to winning ways after seeing off Sliema Wanderers 6-1. For Lija, Spanish player Chavi Montes Burgos helped himself with a brace with Nicola del Re, Andre Henrique, Chris Cardona and Kurt Bartolo scoring the other goals. Kenneth Bonnici reduced the arrears for Sliema.

Spanish duo Inigo Dolara and Anton Novoa Perez were on target as they helped Zebbug Rangers bag their first points of the season after a hard-fought 7-5 win over Swieqi United.
