The Youth Football Association has launched this season’s Under 13 Events & Inħobb il-Futbol during a meeting for all the participating nurseries at the Centenary Hall Ta’ Qali. There will be 41 nurseries (including the Womens’ Under-13 National Team) and 15 nurseries respectively, taking part in these events, starting on Saturday 5th December and running through April 2016.
Robert Attard kicked off the event by stating that the YFA expected that even at this young age a professional attitude is instilled in the way nurseries are run and coached in order to improve standards.
The YFA Vice President went through the details of these events, including the logistics, fixtures and by giving a resume of the rules.
MFA Technical Director Robert Gatt revealed that the Technical Centre will be monitoring closely these Under-13 matches to look for new players to join the national set-up.
Joe Micallef started by showing the Association’s appreciation towards the nurseries of Balzan, Ghaxaq, Hamrun, Marsaxlokk, Melita, Mgarr, Mosta, Pembroke, Qormi, Rabat, Siggiewi, St. Andrews, Tarxien, Zabbar and Zebbug for offering the use of their football grounds for free in solidarity with these events. The YFA General Secretary concluded his intervention by saying that he was sure that the professional attitude will also be maintained by the hosting nurseries to ensure that these Under-13 Events are a complete success.
