BOV Premier League leaders Valletta secured a place in the fourth round of the FA Trophy as they defeated Gozitan champions Xewkija Tigers at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Wednesday in the last game from the third round.
Ian Azzopardi put the Citizens ahead on the 16th minute but Xewkija equalised thanks to a goal by Czech defender Lubos Adamec on the 27th. However Jhonnattann Benites da Conceicao soon restored the lead six minutes later, adding another on the 38th.
In the fourth round, Valletta will be facing holders Birkirkara on Wednesday 20th January at the National Stadium, kick-off at 20:00.
