Valletta face in-form Tarxien

Leaders Valletta will be aiming for a seventh consecutive win as they take on Tarxien Rainbows in one of the BOV Premier League matches in programme on Saturday.

Pembroke Athleta face Naxxar Lions in the other match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium as the two matches in programme at the Hibernians Stadium were postponed.

Pembroke Athleta vs Naxxar Lions, kick-off 14:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Pembroke Athleta and Naxxar Lions cross swords in a clash between two teams from the lower part of the table, although there is a ten point difference between the two. However both sides are desperate for victory as Pembroke lost three out of the last four matches, earning a point in a draw with Balzan while Naxxar lost the last five matches.

Ryan Grech and Colombian Álvaro Javier Hungría Rosero are expected to make their debut for Naxxar Lions who welcome back Blazo Rajovic and Jose Angel Godar Pereira after serving a one-match ban. Naxxar’s Angus Buhagiar and Pembroke’s Terence Agius and Siraj Arab are suspended.

Pembroke beat Naxxar 5-1 in the first round.

Valletta vs Tarxien Rainbows, kick-off 16:15 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Valletta have no easy task as they take on a Tarxien Rainbows side which won three out of the last five matches, including fine 3-0 wins over Balzan and Floriana. The Citizens, on the other hand, won their last six matches but struggled much more than expected to beat Naxxar Lions 2-1 last week.

Valletta welcome back Ryan Camilleri and Claudio Pani after serving a one-match ban but Ian Azzopardi is suspended while Njongo Priso may have already played his last game for the Citizens as he is currently hoping for a move to Turkey or Romania. Bruno Giglio de Oliveira returns for Tarxien from suspension.

In the first round, Valletta beat Tarxien 3-1.
