BOV Division 1: Maroons move three points clear as Spartans rescue a point in stoppage time

Gzira United moved three points clear in the BOV First Division table as they registered a 2-0 win over St. George’s while Hamrun Spartans scored deep into stoppage-time to rescue a point against Zebbug Rangers.

At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, goals by Moises Avila Perez on the 37th and Raphael Alain Kooh Sohna – a penalty on the 69th – gave Gzira United the tenth win of the season while extending their unbeaten record to thirteen matches.

Hamrun Spartans, on the other hand, were trailing 0-1 to Zebbug Rangers as Aaron Agius had put the latter ahead on the 71st but Jake Grech levelled matters on the 95th.

Gudja United returned to winning ways thanks to a narrow win over Mqabba at the Centenary Stadium. A win which puts them on level points with San Gwann. Adrian Cutajar scored the all-important goal eight minutes in the second half.

San Gwann managed to hold Pietà Hotspurs in a 1-1 draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Kyle Cesare put the Hotspurs ahead but Alain Bati Abehanga levelled matters for San Gwann.

Gzira lead the way with 33 points, followed by Hamrun on 30, Senglea 25, Pietà 24, Lija 21, Vittoriosa, Zebbug, Fgura and Melita 18, Rabat 16, Mqabba 12, St. George’s 10, San Gwann and Gudja 7.
