Tarxien Rainbows joined Balzan in the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy as they defeated Qormi 4-1 after extra-time in the second fourth round clash at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Tuesday.
The Rainbows, who had defeated Zebbug Rangers in the third round, seemed heading for a narrow win but Qormi, who qualified after eliminating Ghajnsielem, levelled matters in stoppage time to force extra-time where Jacques Scerri’s side scored twice to secure a place in the next stage.
Ebiabowei Baker put the Rainbows ahead on the 30th minute but Tensior Gusman levelled matters on the 92nd minute. Three minutes in the first half of extra-time, Joao Pedro Oliveira Santos restored the lead and the same player added another two minutes from the end of the first period of extra-time. Ayrton Azzopardi sealed the issue with a fourth goal seven minutes in the second half of extra-time.
