Hibs face Sliema test

Champions Hibernians target maximum points from the clash with Sliema Wanderers in one of the four BOV Premier League matches in programme on Wednesday.

Birkirkara face a tricky Floriana test, Mosta take on St. Andrews while Pembroke Athleta meet Qormi in the other matches.

Hibernians vs Sliema Wanderers, kick-off 18:00 at National Stadium
Hibs will be aiming to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches with a win as they hope to keep the pace with leaders Valletta. They won their last four matches, defeating Sliema, Birkirkara, Qormi and St Andrews. Sliema, on the other hand, target another positive result after defeating Tarxien and holding Floriana in a draw.

Johann Bezzina will be back after serving a one-match ban but Njongo Priso is suspended. Hibs, on the other hand, welcome back Jackson Lima

The two teams shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in the first round with the second round clash ending in a 2-1 win for the Paolites.

Birkirkara vs Floriana, kick-off 20:00 at National Stadium
After beating Mosta 6-3 and Pembroke 1-0, Birkirkara hope to make it three wins in a row as they face a Floriana side lying three points behind the Stripes. A win for Birkirkara would put them on level points with third-placed Balzan. On the other hand, a win for the Greens would enable Luis Oliveira’s side to join the Stripes in fourth place.

Birkirkara could not count on goalkeeper Miroslav Kopric who is suspended but Ryan Camenzuli will be back after missing the last game.

The two teams shared the spoils in two goalless draws in the first two rounds.

Mosta vs St. Andrews, kick-off 18:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Mosta and St. Andrews will be all out to get the three points in a direct clash between two teams eager for points. Mosta have gone five matches without a win, losing the last two games to Birkirkara and Balzan. Bottom-placed St. Andrews, on the other hand, lost to Valletta and Hibernians in their last two outings. A win for the Saints could put them one point behind Naxxar and possibly one ahead of Qormi. Mosta, on the other hand, would leapfrog Sliema into the seventh place should the Wanderers lose to Hibernians.

Michael Johnson and Jonas Rodriguez Ekani return for St. Andrews and Mosta respectively after serving a one-match ban.

Mosta defeated St. Andrews 3-0 and 3-1 in the first two rounds.

Pembroke Athleta vs Qormi, kick-off 20:15 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
After losing the last two games to Balzan and Birkirkara, Pembroke Athleta hope to return to winning ways as they take on Qormi who lost the last nine matches. They won just one game since the third week of September.

Paltemio Barbetti will be back for Pembroke after serving a suspension. Pietro Viggiani, on the other hand, is suspended for Qormi.

Pembroke defeated Qormi 2-1 while the second round clash ending in a goalless draw.
