BOV Division 3: Attard move third

Attard moved third in the BOV Third Division as they defeated Mdina Knights 2-1 in a direct clash for third place at the Luxol Stadium on Sunday.

An own goal put Mdina ahead after just 18 minutes. However Jurgen Gerada equalised on the 58th and Kurt Zahra notched the winner fifteen minutes from time.

Leaders Marsaxlokk kept marching on as they defeated St. Venera Lightnings 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Sergio Hili put Marsaxlokk ahead on teh 16th but seven minutes in the second half, Danijel Vasic levelled matters. However Alain Pierre Courtadon handed Marsaxlokk victory on the 61st minute.

Santa Lucia registered a 5-1 win over Ta’ Xbiex at the Luxol Stadium. Mohammed Telessi and Jonathan Bugeja gave Santa Lucia a two-goal lead within the first eight minutes. Matthew Fenech pulled one back on the 20th but just before half-time, Gilbert Camilleri converted a penalty to increase the lead. Mohammed Telessi added another on the 53rd with Marlon Farrugia scoring a fifth goal on the 84th.

Ghaxaq and Dingli Swallows shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Sirens Stadium. Florin Anton gave Ghaxaq the lead seven minutes in the second half but Karl Cilia converted a penalty on the 72nd to equalise.

A goal three minutes in added time by Jonathan Xerri gave Kalkara a dramatic win over Marsaskala at the Sirens Stadium.

Mtarfa came back from two goals down to hold Luqa St. Andrew’s in a 2-2 draw at the Charles Abela Stadium. Wayne Cuschieri put Luqa ahead two minutes before the end of the first half. Aaron Demanuele doubled the score nine minutes from time. However Vamuya Fafana reduced the gap one minute later and on the 87th, Keithrick Sant equalised.

Marsaxlokk lead the way with 41 points, followed by Santa Lucia on 38, Attard 37, Mdina 35, Ghaxaq 33, Dingli 31, Marsaskala 30, Luqa 17, Kalkara 16, St. Venera and Xghajra 15, Ta’ Xbiex 11 and Mtarfa 10.
