Eight Premier League players suspended

Eight Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Alfred Effiong (Balzan), Ryan Scicluna (Birkirkara), Matthew Calleja Cremona (Floriana), Zachary Brincat (Mosta), Demba Toure (Naxxar), Emerson Vella (Qormi), Daniel Zerafa (Tarxien), and Ryan Camilleri (Valletta) are therefore ruled out of the weekend’s matches. Floriana coach Luis Oliveira was banned for two matches.

Matthew Calleja Cremona and Ryan Camilleri are ruled out of Saturday’s derby between Floriana and Valletta. Alfred Effiong could not face his former club Qormi with Qormi’s Emerson Vella also missing the same game. Birkirkara could not count on Ryan Scicluna for the clash with St. Andrews. Daniel Zerafa misses the derby against Hibernians. Demba Toure is ruled out of the clash with Pembroke while Zachary Brincat misses the game against Sliema.

In Division 1, Yanis Tonna (Gzira), Claudio Calleja (Mqabba), Zac Bowman (San Gwann) and Miguel Ciantar (Senglea) were banned for one match.

Matthew Fleri Soler (Gharghur), Kalil Guilherme da Rosa (Mellieha), Abner dos Santos Pinto (Qrendi), Jason Camilleri and Emmanuel Muscat (Siggiewi), Kane Micallef (Swieqi), Eman Camilleri and Antoine Barbara (Zejtun) were handed a one-match ban in Division 2 while Mellieha coach Brian Bartolo was suspended for two matches.

In Division 3, Roderick Sciberras (Ta’ Xbiex) was suspended for two matches while Leonard Alla (Attard), Noel Bilocca (Ghaxaq), Jonathan Zahra and Matthew Cassar (Kalkara), John Paul Barbara (Marsaxlokk), Jason Good (Mdina), Vamuya Fofana, Stefan Cortis and Joseph Munyao Mwema (Mtarfa), Gaynor D’Amato (Santa Lucia) and Giuseppe Barone (Ta Xbiex) were all banned for one match.
