Nine players suspended following Premier League, FA Trophy matches

Nine Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend matches from the BOV Premier League and the first two quarter-finals of the FA Trophy.

Nicholas Hernan Chiesa and Matteo Piciollo (Floriana), Osa Guobadia (Mosta), Gustavo Villalobos (Pembroke), Ryan Micallef (Qormi), Michael Johnson (St. Andrews) and Juan Cruz Gill (Valletta) are ruled out of the weekend’s matches after being sent off or received a fourth yellow card. Also ruled of the weekend’s matches is Bruno Giglio de Oliveira who was sent off in the FA Trophy quarter-finals. On the other hand, Lydon Micallef of Balzan who was sent off in the same quarter-final will be missing the semi-final since Balzan progressed.

Chiesa, Picciollo and Guobadia are ruled out of the clash between Mosta and Floriana, Bruno Giglio de Oliveira and Gustavo Villalobos will miss the game between Pembroke and Tarxien, Ryan Micallef the game against Sliema, Michael Johnson the clash with Naxxar and Juan Cruz Gill the game against Balzan.

In Division 1, Stacey Vella and Josef Cutajar of San Gwann were both banned for four matches while Allan Borg (San Gwann) and Karl Conti (St. George’s) were suspended for one match.

Lesley Cassar Jackson (Birzebbuga), Keith Fedele and Brian Galea (Gharghur), Luca Mizzi (Kirkop), Luke Cauchi (Mellieha), Leone Camilleri (Qrendi), Giovanni Galea (Sirens), Kane Micallef (Swieqi) and Antoine Barbara (Swieqi) were all banned for one match in Division 2 while in Division 3, Jean Claude Cachia (Attard) and Fabio Luca Muscat (Luqa) were suspended for two matches and Jonathan Xerri (Kalkara), Mark Spiteri ad Alexander Cauchi (Marsaskala) were handed a one-match ban. Ghaxaq official Luke Barbara was banned for one year, Marsaskala coach Vesko Petrovic, Attard official Omar Gauci and Siggiewi assistant coach Clifford Vassallo was suspended for two matches while Attard kit-manager Edward Catania was suspended for one match.
