Birkirkara retain Kopric, Bubalovic, release Smrekar

After Gareth Sciberras, it was the turn of goalkeeper Miroslav Kopric and defender Chrstian Bubalovic to sign a new contract with Birkirkara FC.

The two foreigners had joined the club in the January transfer window and both established themselves in the team.

Meanwhile Croatian striker Matija Smrekar, who had also joined the club in January, was released by the club. Smrekar had left a good impression, scoring five goals in eight matches.

Birkirkara have confirmed Croatian coach Drazen Besek after joining the club in January.

  1. Smrekar had left a good impression? Sorry Mr Busuttil, but probably you have never seen him play. His mobility was similar to that of a tree…it was like playing with 10 men with him on the pitch. Birkirkara deserve better strickers than him.

  2. This shows that this committee is not interested in winning any hounors,as they
retained a bunch of losers, they brought in January, while letting go good Maltese coaches and players for the sake of having foreigners.
