A successful Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) promotional event called ‘Football People’, was held by the Malta Football Association on Sunday, 16th October at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, during the following two BOV Premier League matches between St. Andrews FC and Pembroke Athleta FC and Birkirkara FC and Balzan FC. This was organized by the MFA Social Responsibility Department as part of the MFA social responsibility agenda, in support of the FARE ‘Football People’ campaign.
Players and officials lined up for their respective games wearing anti-discrimination T-Shirts while afterwards the players threw their shirts to the supporters, as a sign of social engagement with the public.
The ‘Football People’ event is meant to increase public awareness of discrimination in football by creating a united front and bringing together all the stakeholders in the game and develop new ideas and new practices that help to eradicate exclusion from society and football. These are common stands in Europe which UEFA also advocates in its efforts to eradicate racism and any form of discrimination and the Malta Football Association is certainly proud to do its part.
