Mosta FC and Ivan Zammit part ways

Ivan Zammit is no longer the coach of Mosta FC. This was announced in a short statement by the club.

Zammit had joined Mosta in summer 2015, leading them to ninth place. This summer, he was due to assist new coach Edmond Lufi but after a few weeks, he was given the responsibility to lead the team and in fact, Lufi resigned in October. As from November, Zammit was assisted by Jojo Bajada.

After a long playing career with Valletta, Zurrieq, Floriana, Hamrun Spartans, Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk, during which he won all major honours, especially during his second spell with Valletta, Ivan Zammit had started his coaching career with Vittoriosa Stars as player-coach, joining Balzan as player-coach in season 2008/09, leading them to promotion from Division 2 to Division 1. The following season, he was appointed team-manager of Balzan and led the club to promotion to the Premier League at the end of season 2010/11. Back in the top division, Balzan managed to retain their Premier League status. He was sacked towards the end of season 2012/13. In season 2013/14, Ivan Zammit was the coach of First Division side Gzira United. In October 2014, Zammit joined Valletta as Technical Director but a few weeks later, he took over as Head-Coach.

Mosta are currently second from bottom on 9 points, three behind Gzira United and one ahead of Pembroke Athleta. They lost ten out of the fifteen matches, including two 0-3 defeats to Pembroke and Gzira.
