Luxol St Andrews FC Futsal further cemented their status as Malta’s dominant futsal force after securing the Laferla Men’s Futsal Trophy with an emphatic 13-2 victory over the Malta FA Futsal Selection U19 in the final played at the National Sports School in Pembroke.
The final saw Luxol take control from the outset, establishing a comfortable lead early in the match. Nathan Cope was among the standout performers with a hat-trick, while Luke Gatt, Collin Sammut and their teammates continued to add to the scoreline to seal a convincing victory.
For the Malta FA Futsal Selection U19, Luke Urpani scored both goals. Despite the difficult result, the young side showed determination and commitment against one of the strongest futsal teams in the country.
The success marks Luxol’s third trophy of the season, underlining the club’s quality, consistency and experience on the biggest stage of Maltese futsal.
At the same time, credit must be given to the Malta FA for its continued investment in youth futsal development. Although faced with a tough challenge in the final, the Malta FA Futsal Selection project continues to provide some of Malta’s most promising young players with valuable high-level experience and an important pathway for the future of the national futsal game.
