Xewkija, Nadur continue to share top spot

Xewkija Tigers and Nadur Youngsters continue to share the top spot in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division as both registered wins at the Gozo Stadium on Sunday as the league resumed after a almost a month.

Nadur beat SK Victoria Wanderers 4-0 thanks to goals by Ronaldo Da Silva on the 32nd, Dewide Dos Santos on the hour, Claudio Antunes on the 79th and Dewide Dos Santos once again five minutes from time.

On the other hand, Xewkija Tigers scored twice in the final nine minutes thanks to Rodney Buttigieg on the 81st and Dene Shields on the 88th to beat Xaghra United 2-0.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, Sannat Lions retained the top spot after they came back from two goals down to defeat Zebbug Rovers 5-3 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday. Matthion Formosa put Zebbug ahead on the 3rd minute and Juan Carlos Vieira Peixoto doubled the score on the 29th. However Nicholas Micallef reduced the gap on the 34th, Ajibade Adesina equalised on the 44th and a Sunday Baala Brace on the 48th and 52nd put Sannat 4-2 ahead. Ejofor Nkwocha scored a third goal for Zebbug a minute later but Sunday Baala scored the fifth goal on the 71st.

A Mohammed Senussi Telessi hat-trick gave St. Laurence Spurs a 3-0 win over Munxar Falcons at the Sannat Ground on Friday. Senussi converted a penalty on the 58th and scored another two goals on the 73rd and 77th.

In another match at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday, Qala Saints defeated Gharb Rangers 3-1. Dario Zamora put Qala ahead on the 44th and although Dylan Bellotti equalised on the hour, Dario Zamora restored the lead on the 68th and Francisco Mumford sealed the issue with a third goal five minutes from time.
