Balzan all out to return to winning ways

After two disappointing weeks, Balzan will be all out to return to winning ways as they take on Mosta in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme on Friday.

Balzan suffered a 1-2 defeat to Sliema Wanderers in their last league outing while last week, they were eliminated from the FA Trophy after losing 1-2 to Tarxien Rainbows after extra-time. Oliver Spiteri’s side are now second, one point behind leaders Hibernians.

Mosta, on the other hand, are currently anchored at the bottom of the table with 13 points from 22 matches and are coming from a 0-5 defeat to Pembroke Athleta in the clash between the bottom two teams two weeks ago. They lost eleven out of the last sixteen matches, winning just one.

The Blues could not count on the suspended Pedrinho, Njongo Priso and Tyrone Farrugia. Paul Fenech is suspended for Balzan.

In the previous rounds, Balzan defeated Mosta 3-2 and 1-0.

Meanwhile in the second match, Valletta take on Sliema Wanderers.

The Citizens are unbeaten in five matches and are coming from a 2-0 win over Hamrun Spartans. The Wanderers, on the other hand, are on a high after defeating leaders Balzan in their last league outing and qualification for the FA Trophy semi-finals after defeating Senglea Athletic on penalties.

Valletta are currently third on 41 points, five behind leaders Hibernians and four behind Balzan. The Wanderers, on the other hand, are sixth on 31 points.

Missing for Sliema is the suspended Ricardo Correa. Valletta, on the other hand, still could not count on the injured Juan Cruz Gill, Roderick Briffa and Michael Mifsud.

Valletta defeated Sliema twice with identical 2-1 scores.
