Gharb Rangers came from behind to register a dramatic 3-1 win over St. Lawrence Spurs at the Gozo Stadium on Saturday to be crowned BOV Gozo Football League Second Division champions.
St. Lawrence needed just a draw to secure the title and things seemed heading in their favour after Gharb striker Andrew Ofulue had a penalty saved on the 26th minute and Mohammed Senussi Telessi put them ahead just before the end of the first half. However Oliver Farrugia equalised on the 76th. Ten minutes later, Andrew Ofulue made it 2-1 and an own goal in stoppage time sealed the issue for the Rangers who therefore claim promotion to Division 1.
The Spurs will now face SK Victoria Wanderers in the play-off for a place in Division 1.
Meanwhile in another match, a goal by David Udo Monday on the 23rd minute handed Sannat Lions a narrow win over Zebbug Rovers.
Gharb ended their commitments on 45 points, followed by St. Lawrence on 4, Sannat 31, Qala 19, Munxar 18, Zebbug 13.
