Roderick Briffa signs two-year deal with Gzira United

Roderick Briffa signed a two-year deal with Gzira United after leaving Valletta.

A product of Birkirkara, Briffa made his Premier League debut in season 1998/99. He had spells on loan with Lija Athletic and Pietà Hotspurs. He left the Stripes in summer 2007 to join Sliema Wanderers but moved to Valletta mid-way through season 2008/09.

Throughout his career, Briffa, who won the Premier League championship five times, the FA Trophy four times and the Super Cup nine times, was voted Footballer of the Year twice – in 2010/11 and 2015/16.

So far, the Maroons secured the services of Nikolai Muscat from San Gwann, Luca Brincat from Sliema Wanderers, Zack Scerri from Hibernians, goalkeeper Tony Curmi from Tarxien, Nigerian striker Emmanuel Ndubuisi Okoye, Senegalese duo Amadou Samb and Samba Diarra Tounkara, Scottish midfielder Gary Muir and Nigerian Under-23 international Samuel Timmy Ogundare.
