The BOV Third Division League kicked-off on Saturday with the first four matches as Sta. Venera Lightnings and Msida St. Joseph turned defeats into victories.
At the Charles Abela Stadium, Sta. Venera Lightnings came from behind to beat Dingli Swallows 3-1. Karl Cilia put Dingli ahead on the 19th minute but William Camilleri equalised on the 31st and a brace by Edward John Wileman on the 66th and 79th handed the Lightnings the three points.
Xghajra Tornados and Ghaxaq shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw in another match at the Charles Abela Stadium. Dean Agius put Ghaxaq ahead on the 5th minute but Xghajra turned the score in their favour with goals by Deemer Cutajar on the 67th and Royter Degiorgio on the 82nd. However Florin Anton equalised three minutes in added time when he converted a penalty.
At the Sirens Stadium, Msida St. Joseph defeated Mdina Knights 2-1. Deyan Farrugia put Mdina ahead just before half-time and goals by George Falzon on the 71st and Jonathan Francica two minutes from time turned defeat into victory for Msida.
Goals by James Borg on the 55th, Jean Scholey on the 87th and Kyle Simiana on the 88th gave Mellieha a comfortable 3-0 win over Marsaskala in another match at the Sirens Stadium.
