BOV Division 1: Zebbug, Sirens join Pietà in second place

Zebbug Rangers and Sirens joined Pietà Hotspurs in second place in the BOV First Division as they both registered wins on Sunday.

Zebbug came from behind to beat Rabat Ajax 3-2 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Zachary Tanti put the Magpies ahead on the 2nd minute and although Larson Mallia equalised on the 21st, Zachary Tanti restored the lead two minutes from the end of the first half. Larson Mallia equalised once again on the 57th and Francesco Gusman notched the winner on the 70th.

In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Sirens scored twice in the second half to turn defeat into victory as they beat Vittoriosa Stars 2-1. Ethan Jay Goodman put Vittoriosa ahead on the 21st minute. Aud-Gustine James Obaje equalised on the 63rd and Giovanni Galea handed Sirens the three points with a goal four minutes from time.

Marsa earned their first point in a 1-1 draw with Qrendi at the Centenary Stadium. This was the third consecutive draw for Qrendi. Dylan Pirotta put Marsa ahead on the half-hour but Kenneth Abela rescued a point for Qrendi seven minutes from time.

In another match, San Gwann defeated Zejtun Corinthians 3-1. Saturday Nanapere put Zejtun ahead but San Gwann scored three in the second half thanks to Jan Tanti, Mario Arieta Suarez and Andre Cachia to give San Gwann their first win.
Qormi lead the way with 9 points, followed by Sirens, Pietà and Zebbug on 6, San Gwann 5, Mqabba, Vittoriosa, Zejtun and Zabbar 4, Qrendi 3, Marsa 1, Rabat and Melita 0 and Pembroke -5. Pembroke had five points deducted.
