Nine Premier League players suspended

Nine Premier League players were handed a one-match ban by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner following the weekend’s matches.

Maurizio Vella (Floriana), Amadou Samb (Gzira), Guilherme Felipe de Castro and Tiago Souza da Silveira (Hamrun), Davide Mansi (Mosta), Omar Borg (Naxxar), Matthew Robert Gauci, Enmy Pena Beltre and Kyle Butler (St. Andrews) are therefore ruled out of this weekend’s matches.

Gauci, Pena Beltre and Butler are therefore ruled out for St. Andrews in Sunday’s match against Sliema. Hamrun could not count on Tiago Indigo and Guilherme Batata for the clash with Naxxar who will lack Omar Borg. Vella will miss the clash with Senglea while Samb and Mansi will skip Gzira vs Mosta.

Meanwhile Floriana coach Giovanni Tedesco was banned for two matches, Senglea assistant coach Bruno Russo was suspended for four matches and Hamrun kit-manager was handed a two-match ban.

In Division 1, Karl Cutajar (Mqabba), Emerson Amaira (Qrendi), Joseph Caruana (Rabat), Mario Andres Arieta Suarez (San Gwann) and Jean Claude Galea (Vittoriosa) were handed a one-match ban while Lazar Doric (Mgarr), Jean Alesi Spiteri and Jean Claud Cesare (Gudja) were banned for one match in Division 2. Christian Bordieri (Marsaskala) was suspended for three matches in Division 3 with Matthew Grech (Mdina) and Jean Scholey (Mellieha) banned for one match.
