Fgura United registered a most comfortable 7-1 win over Luqa St. Andrew’s in one of the two BOV Second Division matches in programme at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday.
Gilbert Martin put Fgura ahead on the 5th minute and Ryan Sell doubled the score on the 32nd. Just before half-time, Gilbert Martin added another with Thomas Grech adding another one minute in the second half. Jihad Azzagari reduced the gap on the 58th but Fgura increased the lead through another three goals – Williams Abeeb Abiodun on the 65th, Justin Zammit on the 71st and Ryan Sell on the 75th.
In another match, Gudja United missed the chance to take temporarily sole leadership as they lost 1-2 to Marsaxlokk. Alan Tabone converted a penalty to put Marsaxlokk ahead just before half time but a Joseph Chetcuti penalty eleven minutes in the second half restored equilibrium. Margeith Scicluna notched the winner on the 61st minute.
Swieqi lead the way with 28 points, followed by Santa Lucia and Siggiewi on 27, Gudja 26, Fgura 24, Kalkara 23, Marsaxlokk 22, Birzebbuga 20, Mgarr 18, Luqa 14, Attard 10, St. George’s 6 and Gharghur 3.
