Malta to face Finland in a friendly match

Four days after hosting Luxembourg in a friendly match at the National Stadium on March 22, the Malta national team will be facing Finland in another friendly match in Belek, Turkey. These matches form part of Tom Saintfiet’s side preparation ahead of the UEFA Nations League commitments, later this year.

Finland will be holding a training camp in Turkey and will play Macedonia in another friendly match three days earlier.

The games against Luxembourg and Finland follow last November’s friendly match against Estonia, which marked the debut of Tom Saintfiet as national coach, which Malta lost 0-3.

Finland are currently ranked 68th while Malta is ranked 185th.

Malta will be facing the Faroe Islands, Azerbaijan and Kosovo in the UEFA Nations League – the first game being away from home against the Faroe Islands on September 7. There is the possibility of Malta playing another one or two friendly matches in May or June as the national team holds a training camp.
