Victoria Hotspurs were crowned BOV Gozo Football League First Division Champions following a 3-1 over their closest rivals Nadur Youngsters in the final match of the season on Sunday to close their dominant season with an eighteen-point advantage.
Dewide dos Santos put Nadur ahead on the 6th minute but four minutes from the end of the first half, Emiliano Lattes levelled matters and three minutes later, Chris Camilleri turned the score in favour of the Hotspurs. Henrique Maciel increased the lead on the 64th.
Horace Laudi, Executive Gozo Region at Bank of Valletta and Dr Samuel Azzopardi, President of the Gozo Football Association presented Victoria with the trophy.
In another match on Sunday, Kercem Ajax came from behind to beat Xewkija Tigers 2-1. Milos Stojanovic put Xewkija ahead just before half-time but goals by Andrew Mizzi on the 68th and Daniel Chavez Flores eight minutes from time handed Kercem the three points.
On Saturday, SK Victoria Wanderers condemned neighbours Oratory Youths to Division 2 after beating them 4-0. Abdullahi Ige Adeshina gave the Wanderers the lead on the 28th, Ajibade Adeshina doubled the score on the 76th and two minutes later, Anthony George Attard made it 3-0. Ajibade Adeshina added another nine minutes from time.
The Wanderers will now face Sannat Lions in the Play-Off.
In another match, a hat-trick by Luis Andre de Melo Lima on the 29th, 46th and 93rd handed Ghajnsielem a 3-1 win over Gharb Rangers. Predrag Djorovic scored the only goal for Gharb on the 78th.
