Malta Under-19 side to face Macedonia Under-17 friendly

Malta Under-19 coach Winston Muscat named a 22-man squad for a friendly match against Macedonia Under-17 at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday, kick-off at 18:30.

Muscat’s selection features three foreign-based players, namely defender Daniel Curmi, who plays for Blau Weiss Gottschee Soccer Academy in the United States, Lee Ciantar, who turns out for Matlock Town in England, and striker Andrei Spiteri, of Spanish club Leganes.

Tuesday’s warm-up is part of the Malta U-19 team’s build-up for the Euro U-19 Championship qualifying tournament, to be played in Malta this coming October.

A difficult challenge awaits the Maltese U-19 team in a group containing France, Belgium and Lithuania.

Meanwhile, the Malta U-17 team, under the guidance of coach Noel Turner, will play two friendlies against their Macedonian counterparts this week.

The two games will take place at the MFA Training Grounds on Thursday and Saturday, both kicking off at 18.00.
