The Malta national team landed at the Vágar Airport in the Faroe Islands on Wednesday afternoon ahead of the opening UEFA Nations League D3 clash against the Faroe Islands on Friday, kick-off at 20:45.
The chartered flight, operated by Maleth Aero, was due to take the Maltese contingent to the Faroe Islands on Tuesday morning. However following a two-hour delay, a technical problem in the anti-skid breaking system of the aircraft prompted the captain to head back to the Malta International Airport a few minutes after take-off and efforts by the flight operators to reschedule the chartered flight to a later time on Tuesday, using another aircraft, proved futile due to logistical issues.
Following the arrival at Vargas Airport, the team held a first training session at the Argir Stadium on Wednesday afternoon and another will be held at the Torsvallur Stadium on Thursday.
