Victoria Hotspurs, Xewkija Tigers and Munxar Falcons secured a place in the semi-finals of the BOV GFA Cup after emerging as winners in the three quarter-finals which were played over the past days at the Kercem Ajax Stadium.
The Hotspurs defeated Kercem Ajax 5-1 on Saturday. Joshua Buttigieg put Kercem ahead on the 6th minute and although Elton da Silva had a penalty saved by the goalkeeper, Emiliano Lattes equalised on the 29th. Five minutes in the second half, Elton Alexandre Da Silva made it 2-1 with Daniel Sowatey increasing the lead on the 59th with Stanimir Miloskovic scoring on the 71st and Andrea Debrincat eight minutes later.
The clash between Munxar Falcons and SK Victoria Wanderers ended in a goalless draw at the end of regular time and extra-time with Munxar emerging as winners 7-6 on penalties.
On Wednesday, Xewkija Tigers defeated Second Division side Qala Saints 3-0 thanks to goals by Thomas Vella on the 5th, Jake Saliba on teh 79th and Carmelo Pace Stellini one minute from time.
