Gzira United and Hibernians join Italian Serie A side Fiorentina in the VisitMalta Tournament – a triangular tournament at the National Stadium on Wednesday, kicking-off at 17:45.
The tournament brings to an end the Italian side’s training camp in Malta as the Viola took advantage of the winter break to step up their preparations for the second part of the season.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Fiorentina coach Stefano Pioli stressed that this training camp was meant to prepare for the rest of the season.
“We are not here for a holiday but at the same time it is a pleasure for us to be in a good location in which we can eat well, sleep well but most of all gather together as team after six days of break. The triangular tournament will be an important test for us to test the credentials of our team ahead of the second part of the season,” said Pioli.
At the same time, this tournament will give both Gzira United and Hibernians – the two joint-leaders in the BOV Premier League a good test ahead of their forthcoming commitments.
Hibernians take on Gzira in the first game, kick-off at 17:45. This will be followed by Hibernians vs Fiorentina at 19:00 and Fiorentina vs Gzira at 20:00.
Entrance tickets cost €8. Only the West A and West C sectors of the National Stadium will be opened for the general public for Wednesday’s tournament.
