John Arne Riise steps down

Birkirkara FC announced that John Arne Riise has handed his resignation with immediate effect from his role as Sporting Director for personal reasons.

In a statement, the club said they “would like to put on record their thanks to Mr. Riise for the work done with our club and wish him well for the future. The club would like to ask our supporters to allow the privacy of the situation to be respected.”

Riise was appointed as Sporting Director of Birkirkara FC in January. A decision which practically sidelined coach Paul Zammit.

Since January, Birkirkara won three matches, earned another three points in draws and losing the other two league matches. They are currently sixth in the BOV Premier League table but reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy.
