Leaders Sirens moved another step closer to securing promotion as a brace by Abdullahi Ige Adeshina handed them a 2-0 win over San Gwann in a match from the BOV First Division at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

Adeshina put Sirens ahead one minute from the end of the first half and doubled the score ten minutes in the second half.

In another match, a goal by Kurt Borg four minutes in added time handed Pembroke Athleta a dramatic win over Santa Lucia. Pembroke move to just three points behind third-placed Santa Lucia and one behind Naxxar.

Sirens lead the way on 49 points, followed by Gudja on 45, Santa Lucia 35, Naxxar 33, Pembroke 32, Zebbug and Swieqi 30, Mqabba and Lija 28, Vittoriosa and Zejtun 26, Qrendi 20, San Gwann 19 and Marsa 5.
