Victoria Hotspurs made it ten wins in a row in the BOV Gozo Football League First Division thanks to a 3-0 win over Gharb Rangers at the Gozo Stadium on Monday.
In another match on Monday, SK Victoria Wanderers collected three precious points in the battle against relegation after beating Xewkija Tigers 2-1. Moussa Bamba put the Wanderers ahead on the 6th minute and although Gennaro Hili equalised just before the end of the first half, Ryan Grech notched the winner on the 67th.
The usual Elton da Silva put the Hotspurs ahead on the 4th minute and five minutes later, Henrique Maciel doubled the score. Elton da Silva added another on the 23rd to seal the issue.
On Sunday, Kercem Ajax defeated Ghajnsielem 2-1. Felipe Augusto de Oliveira opened the scoring on the 14th and Jean Paul Mizzi doubled the score on the 44th. Antoine Camilleri pulled one back for Ghajnsielem on the 90th.
In another match, Nadur Youngsters found no difficulty in beating Munxar Falcons 7-1. Nadur went two goals ahead in the first six minutes thanks to Luke Tabone on the 5th minute and Marcelo Barbosa a minute later. Jefferson de Assis made it 3-0 on the 32nd. Five minutes in the second half, Marcelo Barbosa scored the fourth goal with Jefferson de Assis added another a minute later. Nine minutes from time, Joseph Owen Borg scored Nadur’s sixth with Marcelo Barbosa making it 7-0 three minutes later. Vladimir Tosic scored a consolation gap on the 88th.
Meanwhile in the Gozo Football League Second Division, Xaghra United and Sannat Lions continue to share the top spot after registering wins at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday.
Xaghra United defeated Zebbug Rovers 3-1. Elijah Xuereb put Zebbug ahead on the 13th minute but a Johnny Camilleri hat-trick – on the 17th, 25th and 79th handed Xaghra the three points.
On the other hand, Sannat Lions beat Oratory Youths 4-0, courtesy of Ralph Ebube Okpokwu on the 30th, 41st and 56th and a Matthew Portelli penalty on the 37th.
In another match, St. Lawrence Spurs came from behind to defeat Qala Saints 5-1. Oliver Farrugia put Qala ahead on the 24th but Muda Fagbeja equalised six minutes from the end of the first half. Simon Sultana made it 2-1 two minutes later. Goals by Charlon Farrugia on the 74th, Adrian Xiberras on the 83rd and another by Charlon Farrugia on the 93rd extended the lead for the Spurs.
Meanwhile St. Lawrence Spurs and Sannat Lions secured a place in the semi-finals of the GFA Second Division Knock-Out at the Gozo Stadium on Tuesday.
St. Lawrence Spurs defeated Qala Saints 3-1. Muda Fagbeja put the Spurs ahead on the 3rd minute and although Aleksandar Komoljenovic equalised on the 24th, Charlon Farrugia scored twice on the 39th and 53rd for St. Lawrence.
On the other hand, a brace by Ralph Ebube Okpokwu handed Sannat Lions a 2-0 win over Oratory Youths. Okpokwu converted a penalty on the 57th and doubled the score with a goal on the 88th.
