Qrendi move four points clear of San Gwann in the battle against relegation after defeating Marsa 3-2 in one of the three matches from the BOV First Division at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Darryl Micallef put Qrendi ahead on the 24th but Marsa were quick to equalise thanks to Hideyuki Kawamura a minute later. Kawamura put Marsa 2-1 ahead seven minutes later but ten minutes later, Luca Brincat equalised for Qrendi. Jonatan Silveira da Silva notched the winner eight minutes from time.

San Gwann remained second from bottom after losing 1-2 to Mqabba. David Azzopardi put Mqabba ahead on the 27th and two minutes later, Alexsandro Ferreira doubled the score. Sergio Hili scored a consolation goal ten minutes from time.

Lija Athletic moved fifth after defeating Zebbug Rangers 2-1. Erjon Beu gave Lija a two-goal lead with a goal on the 22nd and a penalty on the 32nd but Igor Rocha de Souza pulled one back before the end of the first half.

Sirens lead the way on 52 points, followed by Gudja on 46, Santa Lucia and Naxxar 36, Lija 34, Swieqi and Zebbug 33, Pembroke 32, Mqabba 31, Zejtun and Vittoriosa 27, Qrendi 23, San Gwann 19 and Marsa 5.
