Sirens appoint Steve D’Amato as their new coach

Newly-promoted Sirens FC have appointed Steve D’Amato as their new coach. He replaces Vince Carbonaro who led the St. Paul’s Bay side to promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the history of the club.

D’Amato had started his coaching career at Melita in the lower divisions but joined Hamrun Spartans in October 2008. In summer 2011, he was appointed technical director of Qormi but in November joined Mosta as their new coach. However his stay only lasted three months. The following season – 2013/14, D’Amato led Rabat Ajax in the Premier League. He moved to Hamrun Spartans once again in summer 2014 leading them from Division 2 to the Premier League, only to be sacked on November 2016. D’Amato then joined Senglea Athletic. Last season, he coached Naxxar Lions.

Sirens have so far signed David Cassar, Adrian Borg Siraj Arab Eddin and Romeu Pericles Romao apart from renewing the contract of Angel Manuel Bustos.
