Birkirkara signed twenty-one year old midfielder Yannick Yankam from Qormi.

Yankam started his career with Pieta Hotspurs but moved to Qormi, first on loan and then on loan in January 2013 and then on a definite transfer. With Qormi, he made his senior team debut during season 2015/16. He soon established himself and was a key player for the club last season on their return to the Premier League.

The Stripes have earlier signed Enrico Pepe, Roderick Briffa, Miguel Angel Alba, Isaac Ntow goalkeeper Nicky Vella and Renato Goncalves de Lima while extending the contract of Michael Mifsud, Luke Montebello and Matthew Guillaumier.
