Fourth consecutive draw for Gudja United

Newly-promoted Gudja United maintained their unbeaten run in their maiden BOV Premier League campaign as they earned a fourth point in a fourth consecutive draw, holding Sliema Wanderers in a 1-1 draw at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

Gudja therefore join Mosta and Balzan on the four-point mark. Sliema, on the other hand, continue to chase their first win after earning just two points in two draws out of their first four matches, remaining joint-second from bottom together with Birkirkara, two points ahead of Tarxien Rainbows.

Substitute Claudio Zappa put Sliema ahead on the hour thanks to a fine shot from outside the area.

However, Gudja were quick to level matters, three minutes later, through Aiden Friggieri, who received a cross by Rundell Winchester and hit home from close range.
