Following participation of Malta Veterans in international tournaments, Veterans Malta Football Association launched

Following the participation of the Malta Veterans in two international tournaments in Granada in Spain and Ascoli Piceno in Italy. the Veterans Central (Malta) Football Association was launched last week during a press conference at The Trophies Lounge, Ta’ Qali.

The Malta Veterans made it to the last twelve out of a total of 96 teams in the Torneo Internacional de Futbol (V+35) Ciuded de La Alhambra in Granada in June. Then, last month, the team led by coach Joe Micallef, made it to the final of the Ascoli Veterans Cup, losing on penalties to Ukrainian side Lugyny Veterans.

The Veterans Central (Malta) Football Association will be organising its first competitions next month starting with the Premier League which will feature ten teams divided into two groups – Gozo Glory, Hamrun Spartans Veterans, Balzan FC Veterans, MFPA and Rabat Ajax Veterans in Group A, Luxol Veterans, San Gwann, Wardija FC, Valletta Lions Veterans and Zejtun Red Stars in Group B.

The top two teams will move on to the semi-finals. The top three teams will make it to automatically for the Christmas Cup. The last competition will be the Knock-Out Competition.

The league will kick-off on Thursday October 3 and will be played on Thursdays at the Attard Ground. Matches will be controlled by MFRA officials and expenses will be covered by the MFA as it is the case with other member associations.
