Gzira United target first win as they face Balzan

Gzira United will be hoping for a first win on Sunday as they take on Balzan in one of the two BOV Premier League matches in programme at the National Stadium.

In the first match, kick-off at 15:00, Mosta face Hibernians.

After a winning start against Tarxien, Mosta suffered back-to-back defeats to Sirens and Senglea but last week earned a point in a 1-1 draw with Birkirkara.

Hibernians, on the other hand, registered wins over Tarxien and Senglea but dropped points in a draw with Gudja and a defeat to Sirens. A win on Sunday would put them in joint-third place with Sirens, one point behind leaders Hamrun and Floriana and two ahead of Valletta and Santa Lucia.

Matthew Calleja Cremona is set to start in goal as Marko Jovicic serves a one-match ban.

In the second match, kick-off at 17:00, Gzira United take on Balzan.

The Premier League campaign for Gzira so far was quite disappointing as they were held in four draws by Hamrun, Santa Lucia, Sliema and Floriana.

Balzan, on the other hand, defeated Sliema, drew with Birkirkara but suffered defeats to Floriana and Valletta.

Zachary Scerri is ruled out for Gzira as he serves a one-match ban.
