Hibernians close in on top two

Hibernians moved to just one point behind joint-leaders Floriana and Hamrun Spartans as they defeated Mosta 2-1 at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The Paolites, in fact, register their third win in five matches, to join Sirens on the 10-point mark. For Mosta, this was the third defeat in five matches.

It was Terrence Groothusen who put Hibernians ahead on the 22nd minute when he placed the ball at the back of the net from close range after that goalkeeper Andreas Vella had partially saved a cross by Timothy Tabone Desira.

Jake Grech doubled the score on the 68th minute when he concluded a good run by slotting the ball past the Mosta goalkeeper after receiving a through pass by Mbong.

Mosta scored a consolation goal on the 90th minute thanks to a header by Rafael Morisco following a corner from the right.
