Late Dexter Xuereb goal sinks Wanderers

A goal two minutes from time handed Mosta a narrow win over Sliema Wanderers at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

A win which enables Mark Miller’s side to join Gzira United and Sirens in third place on 13 points. On the other hand, Sliema suffer a third consecutive defeat to stay third from bottom on five points.

Ten minutes in the second half, Mosta appealed for a penalty after Nikita Kotlov was apparently fouled inside the area but the referee waved play on.

However Mosta scored the all-important goal two minutes from time thanks to a great curling shot by Dexter Xuereb which gave goalkeeper Entonjo Elezaj no chance.
