BOV Division 3 match abandoned

The BOV Third Division League match between Sta. Venera Lightnings and Kirkop United, which was being played at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday, was abandoned on the 44th minute after Sta. Venera captain Yau Mun Law collapsed on the field of play.

The player was attended by the nurse on duty and a photographer until an ambulance arrived at Ta’ Qali and took the player to Mater Dei Hospital.

MFA Statement

The BOV Third Division League match between Santa Venera Lightnings and Kirkop United was abandoned in the 44th minute on Thursday after Sta Venera Lightnings player Yau Mun Law collapsed on the pitch.

Mun Law received immediate treatment from the Malta FA paramedic on duty at the Centenary Stadium who used an AED (automated external defibrillator) to treat the player who has been taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
 
The referee decided to abandon the match following this unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile in another match, Ghaxaq defeated Ta’ Xbiex 3-2.

Goals by Matthew Fenech on the 3rd minute and Shaun Kind seven minutes in the second half put Ta’ Xbiex two goals ahead. Uros Markovic pulled one back on the 56th before two own goals – on the 59th and the 60th – enabled Ghaxaq to turn the score in their favour.

Siggiewi and Ghaxaq lead the way with 10 points, followed by Attard on 9, Kirkop and Marsaskala 8, Msida, Gharghur 7, Mtarfa and Dingli 3, Sta. Venera 2, Mdina 1, Ta’ Xbiex 0.
