Sirens retained a two-point advantage over champions Valletta as the two teams shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Hibernians Stadium on Sunday.
The St. Paul’s Bay side moves two points behind Gzira United and six behind leaders Floriana, leaving Hamrun Spartans in fourth place. Valletta, on the other hand, fall into sixth place.
Sirens went close to taking the lead on the 13th minute with a rising shot by Emmanuel Okoye but Henry Bonello turned the ball into a corner.
Three minutes in the second half, Flavio Cheveresan hit just past the upright from inside the area and a minute later, missed a good opportunity hitting wide. Valletta replied with attempts by Kevin Tulimieri and Mario Fontanella ending off target.
