Balzan bounce back in style

After collecting just one point from their last two matches, Balzan bounced back with a most comfortable 5-0 win over Mosta at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

A win which enables Jacques Scerri’s side to leapfrog Mosta into the seventh place on the fourteen-point mark, one ahead of the Blues.

An early goal by Uros Ljubomirac after just three minutes as he hit low past goalkeeper Andreas Vella following an assist by Dimic from the left, paved the way for Balzan.

Augustine Loof doubled the score on the 28th when Balzan were awarded a penalty after Andrija Majdevac was brought down inside the area by the goalkeeper and although Majdevac’s effort from the penalty spot hit the crossbar, the Dutch defender headed the ball home off the rebound.

Four minutes from the end of the first half, Ricardo Correa served Andrija Majdevac who made it 3-0 with a low shot from the edge of the area.

Majdevac converted a penalty on the 79th to increase the lead further after Tyrone Farrugia floored Ljubomirac inside the area.

Ricardo Calixto Correa Duarte added another five minutes from time with a diagonal shot from the left when served by Ryan Scicluna.
