Valletta returned to winning ways as they registered a narrow win over Senglea Athletic at the Hibernians Stadium on Friday.

The Citizens therefore close in on Floriana and Gzira United after dropping two points in a draw with Sirens last week. Senglea, on the other hand, remain ninth.

Rowen Muscat was unlucky not to put Valletta ahead on the 28th minute with a cross shot which hit the crossbar. However, a minute later, the Citizens scored the all-important goal thanks to Matteo Piciollo who headed the ball home following a cross from the right.
