Tarabai brace enables Birkirkara to return to winning ways

A brace by Edison Luis dos Santos enabled Birkirkara to return to winning ways as they registered a 2-0 win over Santa Lucia at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

This was only the second win for Birkirkara this season but this win enables them to join Santa Lucia and Gudja United on the 10-point mark, two ahead of Sliema Wanderers who now lie second from bottom and wooden-spoonists Tarxien Rainbows.

The Stripes managed to take the lead on the 37th minute when Edison Luis dos Santos was brought down inside the area by Jamie Zerafa; referee Malcolm Spiteri ordered a penalty and from the penalty spot, Tarabai made no mistake.

Birkirkara doubled the score on the 62nd minute, once again thanks to Edison Luis dos Santos who received the ball off a Caio Henrique Prado freekick and concluded with a shot, deflected by a defender, which beat goalkeeper Ryan Caruana.
