Under-21s lose 5-1 in Aalborg

The Malta Under-21 side lost 5-1 to Denmark in a match from Group 8 of the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying round at the Aalborg Stadion in Aalborg on Tuesday.

Jacob Bruun Larsen opened the score after just one minute and three minutes later, Victor Nelsson made it 2-0. Jens Odgaard scored a third goal on the 15th minute and Bruun Larsen converted a penalty on the 40th. Four minutes from the end of the first half, Nicholas Pulis pulled one back for Malta.

However on the 67th minute, Andreas Olsen made it 5-1 for Denmark.

  1. Pulis’ goal was a beautiful long shot. Definitely the best goal of the day. Too bad the game was over so early, after some poor defending gifted Denmark some easy goals. The game became fairly quiet with everything decided, so there were few highlights, but the Pulis goal certainly deserves special praise. I believe it was Malta’s first in the tournament.
