Gharb through to GFA First Division Knock-Out semi-finals following penalty shoot-out

Gharb Rangers secured a place in the semi-finals of the GFA First Division Knock-Out after defeating Ghajnsielem 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at the end of extra-time.

Kurt Grima put Ghajnsielem ahead on the 3rd mintue but goals by Olimpio Gabriel Fernandes on the hour and Pablo Vinicius Ferreira five minutes later turned the score in Gharb’s favour. However three minutes from time, Nemanja Stojanovic restored equilibrium.

In the penalty shoot-out, Camilo Andres Babilonia, Olimpio Gabriel Fernandes, Joseph Grima, Haruna Shola Shodija and Predrag Djorovic scored Gharb’s five penalties while Nemanja Stojanovic, Alberto Xuereb and Sebastien Eduardo Martinez Turizo scored for Ghajnsielem. Jhon Arboleda Valencia hit high.

Meanwhile in the BOV Gozo Football League Second Division, leaders Sannat Lions beat St. Lawrence Spurs 2-0 at the Kercem Ajax Stadium on Saturday thanks to Joseph Zammit on the 78th and Ebube Ralph Okpokwu two minutes in added time.

Zebbug Rovers registered a most comfortable 6-2 win over Qala Saints. Goals by Frank Attard on the 5th, Oliver Farrugia on the 7th and a brace by Tiago Barbosa on the 21st and 34th gave Zebbug a four-goal lead. Qala reduced the gap through Stefan Farrugia on the 68th and Ryan Meilak four minutes later but Tiago Barbosa scored a fifth goal on the 83rd with Frank Attard adding another two minutes from time.
