BOV Division 2: Marsa, Marsaxlokk share spoils in 3-3 draw

Marsaxlokk and Marsa shared the spoils in an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Luxol Stadium in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday.

Following a goalless first half, an own goal put Marsa ahead on the 46th minute and seven minutes later, Erik Pietribiasi doubled the score. Ryan Micallef reduced the gap on the 56th but Terence Scerri made it 3-1 on the 73rd. However Ryan Micallef scored again for Marsaxlokk on the 83rd and two minutes later, Ryan Micallef notched the equaliser.

A goal by Luca Mallia on the 45th minute handed San Gwann a narrow win over Zabbar St. Patrick at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Kalkara held Zurrieq in a 1-1 draw. Jason Camilleri put Zurrieq ahead six minutes in the second half and four minutes in added time, Isaac Galea levelled matters for Kalkara.

At the Luxol Stadium, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s came from behind to beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-0. Andy Portelli converted a penalty to put Luqa ahead on the 41st minute and one minute in the second half, Alan Abdelrahman doubled the score. Joshua Farrugia pulled one back on the 59th and a Gary Caruana penalty restored equilibrium on the 74th. Clive Fenech made it 3-2 for Birzebbuga on the 80th and in the dying minutes, Joshua Farrugia added another.

Marsa and Mgarr lead the way with 19 points, followed by Marsaxlokk on 18, San Gwann 16, Rabat 15, Melita and Zurrieq 14, Birzebbuga and Kalkara 11, Xghajra 8, Zabbar 7, Mellieha 6, Luqa 5.
