Seven Premier League clubs will be in action on Saturday in the third round of the FA Trophy.
Hamrun Spartans and Gzira United face opposition from other Premier League clubs as they face Tarxien Rainbows and Senglea Athletic respectively while Balzan take on Second Division side San Gwann, Valletta meet First Division side St. Andrews and Gudja United face First Division leaders Lija Athletic. The other match puts against each other First Division clubs: Mqabba vs Pieta’.
Balzan vs San Gwann, kick-off 14:00 Centenary Stadium
Balzan are currently seventh in the BOV Premier League but won just one out of the last four matches. San Gwann, on the other hand, are currently fourth in the BOV Second Division and are unbeaten in five matches, winning their last three games. In the FA Trophy second round, San Gwann defeated Marsa 2-0.
St. Andrews vs Valletta, kick-off 16:15 Centenary Stadium
Valletta share third place in the BOV Premier League after winning four out of the last five matches. St. Andrews, on the other hand, are third in the BOV First Division after winning two out of the last three matches. In the FA Trophy second round, St. Andrews defeated Marsaxlokk 3-1.
Tarxien Rainbows vs Hamrun Spartans, kick-off 14:00 Hibernians Stadium
Seventeen points separate the two teams as Hamrun are currently sixth in the BOV Premier League and Tarxien lie at the bottom of the table without any points after eleven matches. The Spartans, on the other hand, lost just one out of the last five matches but won just one, the other three matches ending in draws. Hamrun defeated Tarxien 3-2 on match day 3 of the BOV Premier League.
Gzira United vs Senglea Athletic, kick-off 16:00 Hibernians Stadium
Gzira United are currently second on 22 points while Senglea are tenth on 12 points. The Maroons won six out of the last seven matches while Senglea lost three out of the last four games. Last week, Gzira defeated Senglea 3-1.
Mqabba vs Pieta’ Hotspurs, kick-off 14:00 at Victor Tedesco Stadium
Pieta’ share third place in the BOV First Division on 17 points while Mqabba are joint-bottom with Vittoriosa and Fgura on seven. The Hotspurs won four out of the last six matches while Mqabba lost four out of the last six matches. On match-day 1 of the BOV First Division, the Hotspurs defeated Mqabba 1-0. In the FA Trophy second round, Pieta’ had defeated St. George’s 4-1 while Mqabba beat Dingli Swallows 3-1.
Gudja United vs Lija Athletic, kick-off 16:15 Victor Tedesco Stadium
Gudja are joint-third from bottom in the BOV Premier League but are unbeaten in three matches following two wins and a draw. Lija Athletic, on the other hand, lead the way in the BOV First Division but lost two out of the last three matches. In the FA Trophy second round, Lija beat Qrendi 5-0.
