Msida St. Joseph returned to winning ways as they defeated Sta. Venera Lightnings 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller in a match from the BOV Third Division at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday.

Kayne Said put Sta. Venera ahead on the 6th minute but Lian Xuereb equalised on the 18th minute and Ciro Quaranta made it 2-1 for Msida five minutes from the end of the first half. Shamison Farrugia converted a penalty to level matters for the Lightnings two minutes in the second half but Timothy Thomas made it 3-2 on the hour and Lian Xuereb added another seven minutes later. Ryan Bezzina reduced the gap for the Lightnings ten minutes from time.

In another match, Mtarfa and Ta’ Xbiex shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

Attard lead the way with 19 points, followed by Kirkop on 18, Ghaxaq, Msida and Siggiewi 17, Gharghur 13, Marsaskala 10, Dingli 7, Sta. Venera and Mtarfa 6, Ta’ Xbiex 4 and Mdina 2.
